During the summer tour, Queen paid homage to the 40th anniversary of the News of the World album by featuring the robot from the famous Frank Kelly Freas album cover art as part of the stage visuals. Continuing the celebration of that classic album, which contains the band’s iconic anthems “We Will Rock You” and “We Are the Champions,” will be a special News of the World box set due later in the year.
“It’s stupendous,” May says of the reissue. “It includes all kinds of goodies that no one has ever heard. We have a new vinyl mastering, which comes straight off the mix tapes as opposed to off copies of the mix tapes. So this is the most faithful reproduction of those master mixes ever. The technical guys went through the multitrack tapes and they done alternative mixes using alternative takes of all the tracks on the album. So that’s going to be something people will be fascinated with. You can hear different guitar solos, different vocal takes. There’s a restored documentary that was never finished about us [at the time of News of the World] in America. It’s fascinating to see us talking about what we were doing and just being on the road. It’s a very rich box set that people will enjoy.”
Resumiendo, de momento, la caja llevará:
-El disco en LP con un nuevo mastering.
-Un CD con mezclas distintas de los temas con tomas alternativas sacadas de los multitracks.
-El documental de Bob Harris terminado.
Esperemos que incluya algo más, aunque será interesante reescuchar el disco con distintos solos y tomas distintas, pero espero que hayan rebuscado más en los bahúles y hayan encontrado más material.

Puffff, menuda pereza. Habrá que ver la "nueva" remasterización y las mezclas, miedo me da. En cuanto al documental, puede ser interesante. Yo hecho en falta algún concierto, aunque sea sólo en audio, de la gira en cuestión... En fin, me espero una edición descafeinada.
Amigos, no os hagáis grandes ilusiones. Si luego el producto convence pues eso que nos llevamos. No dicen nada respecto a un concierto en directo del 77 (audio, video o en ambas formas), que pienso que nos apetece a todos (el ansiado Houston...). El documental es cierto que puede ser interesante pero por Internet existen un par de ellos, centrados en 1977, que están bastante currados... Habrá que ver qué de nuevo puede tener el documental que no esté en los creados por los fans. Tengo la duda de si incluirán memorabilia (el robot como 'prota' o ¿más globos de 40 aniverario?...). Y sobre demos y otras mezclas, tengo tan mal recuerdo de lo que nos prometieron en Queen Forever, que ya no me creo nada.
En fin, no queda más que esperar.
